Samsung LN46A550 - Reviews, Compare VS, Best Prices - 46″ LCD TV

This years new Samsung 5 series LCD models have grown to be among some of the best selling and highly reviewed LCD televisions in 2009, offering shoppers rock solid performance that a price that is appealing to almost every budget. Replacing the A550 LCD series, the Samsung B550 LCD models are available in all the same sizes, with drastic improvements, corrections to flaws, and overall better functionality and performance. The B550 models are logically numbered as the A550s were, with the 40-inch Samsung LN40B550 LCD TV, 46-inch Samsung LN46B550 LCD TV, and 52-inch Samsung LN52B550 LCD TV models available similar to 2008’s A550 modeling system.

Pros & Strengths: Black levels great for such a cheap lcd, color accuracy is strong, great selection and number of inputs and connectors, great screen uniformity with strong picture clarity and very few if any screen artifacts or common visual problems. Price for performance ratio is very high, lots of bang for your buck here for sure.

Cons & Weaknesses: Remote could be better, 120HZ is reserved for more expensive LN46A650 / LN46A750 and is an awesome feature for people that use their HDTV extensively, some people have reported problems with panel… seems to be corrected on all new sets now.

Review of Samsung LN 46A550: I ordered this television online after spending some time reading through dozens and dozens of positive and critical Samsung ln46a550 reviews and finding the Amazon pricing to be much cheaper than the brick and mortar stores. Happy to report no problems with delivery, in fact it arrived early and the guys came in and helped my wife set it up since I wasn’t home at the time. We got an unbelievable price and service and are overjoyed with Amazon, Samsung and delivery for the whole experience.
The television itself is awesome, and a major upgrade from our old 27 inch CRT. I spent a lot of time researching, reading reviews, and learning about HDTV technologies before we decided to make the switch from the old tube to the slick flat panel LCD, and it was definitely a great choice for us. The picture is beautiful and makes everything look so much better, with the size increase being appreciated fully by everyone in our house and its visitors alike.
One thing I did find after reading a few LN46A550 reviews comparing it vs. the LN46A650 & LN46A750 is that it does lack the very nice 120HZ refresh rate called AutoMotionPlus, which apparently makes sports and general viewing much nicer and smooth. We haven’t really got to compare that fact ourselves, but other reviewers say it is quite a substantial difference.
Besides the fact that it lacks the 120 MHz refreshing and the fact that the remote and sound could use some improvement, the Samsung 46” A550 LCD is great and we have quickly fallen in love with our first HDTV in it. I would rate it 9 out of 10 if not for the above problems of remote and automotionplus, although at this price and level of clarity, perhaps that’s a bit unfair to dock a point for, who knows because I haven’t seen the true difference that the feature makes.

Just got my Samsung LN46A550 HDTV the other day and after having used it with a couple different types of high definition devices and media, I thought I would share my LN46A550 review since I just instantly fell in love with this thing and all the other great reviews helped me to make this awesome and satisfying purchase.

The performance and video quality on this thing blows me away really, I’ve played video games, watched upscaled DVDs and HD-DVD movies on this thing in 1080P quite a few times now and each time I kind of let out a warm smile at the level of detail and clarity the Samsung LN46A550 displays so vividly on screen (one thing I learnt from reading other reviews is that to really take advantage of 1080p resolution the best available right now you have to have a 42 inch plus television) which is why I choose this over the 40” televisions as I was on a budget but still wanted quality – luckily for us the ln46a550 46” HDTV is still way more affordable and actually better quality and performing then the other 40 inch television from the other big name brands. Everything from setup to sound to input selection on this TV are also perfect thus far and continues to impress visitors and people that stop by the house.
